Corrosion is one of the biggest problems marinas and shipyards face. Wire ropes, in particular, are susceptible to rust as they are exposed to the weather. Add to that the salty air found on the coasts, and fighting corrosion on wire rope cables is an everyday battle.

HinderRUST, by Fluoramics, combats rust on wire rope cables by soaking deep into the seams and crevices. It is engineered to be a rust-stopping, rust-inhibiting and lubricating product that aggressively wets and spreads across any surface to which it is applied.

Bernie Boucher, Senesco Marine mobile equipment Service Supervisor, says they started using HinderRUST on their crane cables about two years ago and would definitely recommend this product to others, noting that it is easier to apply and lasts longer than other products they’ve used.

“We like the fact that it tends to not attract or hold dirt . . . especially in the environment we are at (lots of sand/dirt and frequent high winds),” said Boucher.

He feels HinderRUST offers great rust protection and said, “We like the consistency of the product before and after application: it penetrates grooves and crevices when fresh and it remains on the cable with a subtle tackiness without flaking off after drying.”

HinderRUST is solvent-free and non-hazardous, making it safe to use in all near-water conditions.
