Untreated Wire Rope
Inventor Franklin Reick of Fluoramics, Inc. first developed the concept of HinderRUST® in 2011. He was driving down a busy highway in New Jersey when his brakes failed. After carefully making his way to a repair shop, he found out his brake line had rusted away. That sparked the idea of developing a product combining lubrication and rust inhibition properties, something very valuable to marine and other rust-prone industries.
“We did a test where we took samples of metal plates and placed them in a fish tank with salt-water and a bubbler system. After just four days, the pieces not coated with HinderRUST looked like they spent the last hundred years buried with the Titanic. However, the two pieces coated with HinderRUST had no rust on them whatsoever,” explained Reick.
“HinderRUST is a superior rust inhibitor and lubricant because it contains PTFE and Tufoil and has a unique ability to displace water and spread across the surface of the metal,” says Reick. “In addition, unlike competitive products, HinderRUST has no solvents and is great for use in confined spaces.”

In 2012, Reinauer Transportation, owner of Senesco Marine, tested the product on their crane cables. Bernie Boucher, Senesco Marine mobile equipment Service Supervisor at the time, said they started using HinderRUST on their crane cables soon thereafter, and would definitely recommend this product to others, noting that it was easier to apply and lasted longer than other products they’ve used. “We like the fact that it tends to not attract or hold dirt . . . especially in the environment we are at — lots of sand and frequent high winds,” said Boucher. “We like the consistency of the product before and after application: it penetrates grooves and crevices when fresh, and it remains on the cable without flaking off after drying.”
Frank Reick, the inventor of HinderRUST, has many credits to his product portfolio. As already mentioned, he is the original developer of Tufoil, which holds the title of “The World’s Most Efficient Lubricant” by the Guinness Book of World Records. In addition, while working with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Brunswick, GA, he developed a product called Gun-Coat, which lubricates and protects guns from corrosion. Frank has more than 25 years of experience in working with rust, iron oxidation and lubrication, and more than 100 trials were conducted to perfect his HinderRUST formulation.
HinderRUST is a multi-use product, which will benefit any industry using machinery and tools, extending the life of valuable equipment by keeping it moving and rust-free.

The specific uses for HinderRUST are endless. The product is currently being used on in-line machinery, all modes of transportation, submersible pumps, gas and electric motors, weaponry, towing equipment, farming, construction/grading/excavation, turbines, chemical engineering, manufacturing and maintenance, car wash systems, and by high-performance racing teams.
This easy-to-apply product is available in many sizes including 4 fl. oz. cans, 8 fl. oz. squirt bottles, 11.5 oz. aerosol cans, and 1-, 5-, and 55-gallon containers. Videos showing the effectiveness of HinderRUST can be viewed at Fluoramics.com/HinderRUST.
