The Problem – Controlling Corrosion in a Water Park Pool Setting
Metal components above a fully enclosed indoor water park swimming pool were quickly affected by the highly corrosive atmosphere created by pool chemicals and humidity. A corrosion mitigation specialist company was brought in to assess and stop further damage in two situations.

Situation 1 – Corrosion Control of Rigging

High-quality 316SS rigging installed in 2016 above the pool but below the ceiling quickly corroded.
Solution for Situation 1
A specialist services company cleaned off the corrosion and applied HinderRUST HV100. They reapplied it a year later during the annual inspection. One of the advantages of HinderRUST is that its clear chemistry allows for continued inspection and mitigation. The surface remains pristine, so no further applications have been needed.
Situation 2 – Corrosion Control of Hardware
The ceiling is comprised of unsealed metal sheets which allows the salts and chlorides to migrate freely into the space above the ceiling. As a result, many of the aluminum rivets, gal tech screws, etc. were affected.
Solution for Situation 2
After the first inspection in 2013, this same company applied HinderRUST S4.0. In 2019, HV100 was installed over the S4.0. Five years later in 2024, the treatment continued to perform perfectly. As the images show, the first application completely arrested the corrosion.
