Visually examining the effectiveness of our products is one of the many internal quality checks we regularly perform.

In the case of our HinderRUST rust inhibitors and lubricants, we hang metal plates outside in unprotected weather conditions in order to test the effectiveness and longevity of the three versions of HinderRUST. The left half of each plate is uncoated and the right half is coated with one of our three versions of HinderRUST. The application date and the version of HinderRUST are noted on the plate.

The plates in the pictures below were coated using our aerosol version and placed outside in October of 2018. The first set of pictures were taken in January after being outside for three wet, cold and snowy Minnesota months. See how the left side of each plate is already exhibiting rust while the right side is rust free?

The plates in this next photograph are the same plates but this photograph was taken in June. While the rust is more pronounced on the untreated side of the plate, the treated sides still look good. The plate with the removable version — R2.0 — is just starting to show a few specks of corrosion. This is not a surprise to us as HinderRUST R2.0 is engineered to be removable with heavy or repeated washings. S4.0 is our standard version and HV100 is our heavy duty version as it thickens over time to provide more of a shield against rust causing agents such as moisture and oxygen.
