We have heard from several engineers who lose sleep worrying about the wrong sealant being used or contaminated product. They are spending time and money dealing with leaks or assemblies that have self-welded. Folks… time is money and it’s time to try LOX-8 Paste. The LOX-8 Paste 100-gram Plunger with the dispensing gun eliminates the risk of contamination, has a zero-scrap factor, and allows for easy application. LOX-8 Paste is non-hardening, and, because it is solvent-free, requires no cure time. Simply apply LOX-8 Paste and your assembly can go right into service, meaning no down time, and again, saving money.

There are three attributes to a great sealant:
  1. Lubrication — to allow smooth torque without galling
  2. Compatibility — resistance to chemicals and/or gases used
  3. Bulk Fill — prevents leaks in larger fittings

LOX-8 Paste provides lubrication needed for smooth torque and will prevent galling. Be careful with plastic fittings not to over-torque. A good rule of thumb is to hand-tighten and then only tighten another quarter to half of a turn. Contact me for K-factors.

LOX-8 Paste is compatible with many aggressive chemicals including Anhydrous Ammonia, Argon, Kerosene, Natural Gas, Nitrogen, and many more (see our LOX-8 Paste Technical Data Sheet for more information). In fact, LOX-8 Paste is recommended by the Chlorine Institute members (Pamphlet 164) and is Praxair GS-38 approved.

LOX-8 Paste provides bulk fill. However, when working with fittings 3/4″ and larger, the threads are much coarser and bulk fill will be key in preventing leaks. I would recommend our Full Density PTFE Tape or LOX-8 LD (which has the same attributes as LOX-8 Paste but is much thicker, almost clay-like).

LOX-8 Paste is certified by BAM, tested by ASTM G72-82 and ASTM G86, plus NSF Approved (P1). LOX-8 Paste is used by the US Military and is MIL-PRF-2761G compliant with an NSN code of 8030-00-829-3982.
