Small leaks are no small problem. Opening your pool for the summer should be a breeze. Don’t let something like a leak from your pool pump, filter, or heater stress you out. LOX-8 Thread Sealant can make your yearly pool maintenance routine easier and allow you to relax this summer knowing you are leak free!

Steve Tapp has had an at home pool for over 10 years and therefore has spent 10+ years trying to perfect his yearly spring pool maintenance routine. But he’s run into the same two problems every year:  a leaky heater, and thread sealants that fall apart in the pool pump and filter threads. He has tried to fix it with several thread sealants, but none have done the trick for him.

“I’ve used thread seal tapes and silicone thread sealants before, but when they dry, any movement within the pipes afterwards ends up breaking the seal,” said Tapp.

This year he turned to Fluoramics to help.

Tapp used LOX-8 Thread Sealant on his PVC threads this year in hopes of eliminating leaks and lubricating his threads for an easier process in the future. LOX-8 Thread Sealant is engineered to withstand harsh chemicals, such as chlorine, and is specifically formulated for wet conditions. It is:

  • Oxygen-safe, waterproof, and versatile
  • Recommended for use as both a lubricant and as a sealant by The Chlorine Institute members.
  • Safe to use with PVC threads as a plastic pipe joint sealant but be careful not to over tighten.
  • Non-migrating, non-hardening sealant

“I’m excited about the fact that LOX-8 doesn’t dry down and harden. I have had problems with silicone thread sealants hardening and falling apart in my PVC threads,” said Tapp. “It’s been a really frustrating process, trying to find a good sealant that not only works, but that also works well with chlorine.”
