When Frank decided to publish my biography, I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. I didn't have what you would call an "exciting" life, but thanks to your kind letters, I realize I had a memorable one surrounded by people who love me.
What more could a dog ask?
After reading a letter from a lovely Florida couple who shared a touching story of their beagle, Nick, I understand how our families feel after we're gone and how much those memories mean to them.
I'm proud to say that I've also received letters from Senators, a Speaker of the House and Legislators. I think Assemblywoman Charlotte Vandervalk said it best. I've had her letter reprinted for you on the right side of this page.

Dear Klutzie:
Thank you very much for having Mr. Reick send me a copy of your story. I enjoyed reading about your early upbringing and your adventures in life. I am distressed, however, to hear that you are growing feeble and feeling the effects of old age. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done to reverse the ravages of time, save to enjoy life and be kept as comfortable as possible.
Your story seems to downplay your accomplishments and the influence which you have had on those who get to know you. Rejected at birth by your natural family, threatened with bodily harm by those who should have nurtured you, a special child with very special needs, you have managed to survive and thrive. Mr. Reick's letter attests to the impact which you have had on the lives of your adopted family and friends. As much as you tug upon Florence's heartstrings when you cry at her occassional departures, I am certain that she would not trade you for any pure-bred, ACK registered best in breed.
In short, Klutzie, it is quite obvious that you are well loved. To paraphrase Robert Louis Stevenson:
"That dog is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the understanding of intelligent people and the love of children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who leaves the world better than he found it, whether by a well-wagged tail, a perfectly-licked face or a warmed heart; who never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had."
Congratulations, Klutzie, you are certainly a success! Mr. Reick, Florence and all of the staff and customers of Fluoramics Inc. are better for having known you.
